How did we decide on Ponies????????? hmmnnnnn? As we aged and horses seemed taller, we decided we would raise Classic Shetland Ponies. Eons ago before Wyoming we moved at lot trying to stay rural and away from crowded areas. Each time we moved, it came with a pony. They were unwanted commodities, like wrecked cars. Most were cranky and not very reliable, due to their previous environments. Mel's sister had a shetland(not registered), that was so young, she brought it home in the back seat of her car. When her kids outgrew Spotty, we bought and had her for many, many years. We needed a "Beware of Pony" sign; for she chased dogs and strangers out of the yard. She did not know she was a pony; ate popsicles, chocolate chip cookies, hot dogs or whatever the kids gave her. She came in the house, if the door was open. Spotty was broke to ride, but had never pulled a cart. One day the neighbors got a pony and cart, but theirs wouldn't pull the cart and asked if Spotty would. Mel hitched her up and everyone took turns, she was about 17 at her first cart pull. We have always loved equine(see the Family page for some photos). So we bought " A " pony after moving to Wyoming. Now, we could 'fib' and say "it was because of our 15 grandkids"; but it wasn't for them........it was for us!!!!!!!!! Yes, some of our kids and grandkids love the ponies as we do, even if they call them P---Ants and cuss us for getting rid of all the 'REAL' horses. But we have found ponies are like potato chips. You can't have just one! Soon, it was 2, then 5, then 10, and they kept multiplying and we loved it. One day we saw an Arenosa in the Journal and then a few in person; it was decided we had to have that type of pony(History is in the Arenosa pages)! We have decided to specialize in the Cadillac/BMW of the pony world, as we call them. We will have all dual registered ASPC/AMHR, all are not necessarily 100% Arenosa, such as Maggie our mini Donkey. We really need the THANK our expert team of vets from Alpine Veterinary Clinic; Dr.Brenda and from Carter Animal Hospital: Dr. Lisa who have really went above and beyond the call of duty for us! Here are some of our special "Arenosa" and others....great pests or pets, if you prefer. ACLASSIC TOUCH................
